A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has ordered that the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Ayodele Hospital, Dr. Joseph Ayodele, be remanded in prison for allegedly raping his patient, a registered nurse.
The police report, which charged the defendant for rape, revealed that the medical doctor sedated and had sexual intercourse with the patient without her consent.
The defendant committed the offence against the victim when she came for treatment in his hospital at Sawmill area in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The police report read that “the nurse went to the hospital for medical treatment when the doctor, who claimed to have 27 years experience in the medical field, took advantage of her under sedation.
“Investigation into the matter, however, led to the recovery of the video recording containing sexual action of the defendant on the victim while medical text also confirmed that the said nurse was assaulted and raped.”
During the court proceeding, the government prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, informed the court of the gravity of the offence and the motion ex parte attached to the police report
He, therefore, asked the court to remand the defendant in Correctional Centre.
Granting the prosecutor’s prayer, the presiding judged, Magistrate Jumoke Kamson, ordered that defendant be remanded in prison custody.
She adjourned further hearing of the case till May 18, 2023.
