Bandits have reportedly killed a soldier and two civilians in a fresh attack on Rikwe-Chongu village in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Also, many houses were set in fire by the bandits during the attack.
The soldier was shot dead on Thursday night while he and his colleagues were trying to repel the attack on the village.
Confirming the incident, spokesman of a Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major Ishaku Takwa, said the troops deployed to the community have restored normalcy to the area.
According to him: “There was a night attack in the area on April 28; our troops deployed to the community repelled the attack and in the process OPSH lost a soldier. Two other civilians died as a result of the attack as well.”
Also, the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, David Malison, confirmed that three persons died and many houses were set.on fire during the attack.
He decried incessant bandits’ attacks across the state, saying no fewer than 100 persons in the last one months have lost their lives in the state.
