The bandits, who kidnapped a widow and civil servant, Mrs. Sefi Jimoh, last Saturday in Lokoja, Kogi State capitol, has reached out to her family for N10 million ransom.
An informed source disclosed that the kidnappers called the victim’s family and asked for N10 million ransom before the mother of four, who recently lost her husband, could be released.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, in a statement, said Mrs. Jimoh, an environmental officer, was kidnapped last Saturday on her way home from an evening service in the Zone 8 area of Lokoja.
According to the statement: “The Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, has ordered officers and men to launch a manhunt for the kidnappers of Mrs. Sefi Jimoh, a middle-aged widow who was abducted in Lokoja, the state capital on Saturday.
“While investigation into the incident has started, police in conjunction with other security agents, hunters and vigilantes are already on the trail of the bandits to arrest them and rescue the woman alive.
“Already, some police detectives had visited the residence of the victim to get more facts about the incident to help our investigation.”
