A 3-storey building on Sunday collapsed at Ladipo Oluwole Street in Apapa, Lagos State.
The building under construction collapsed almost 24 hours after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the site of the April 12 building collapse in Banana Island, where he had ordered the demolition of its remains.
There was no casualty, according to the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA)
A statement by a Deputy Director of Public Affairs, LASBCA, Mukaila Sanusi, said the premises of the collapsed building has been sealed off.
He said developer comtonued construction despite the LASBCA’s “Stop work and Seal up orders.”
Sanusi, who disclosed that the incident triggered immediate preliminary enquiries that showed officers issued a number of contravention notices,. said: “The developer carried on construction without recourse to the authorities. There has been no report of any casualty, while the site has been cordoned off and taken over by LASBCA.
“The latest collapse, like similar others, reinforces government’s calls for responsible behaviour on the part of all stakeholders.
“The Lagos State Government has commenced further inquiries into the collapse to unravel the details and guide appropriate actions.”
