Owner of Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Adedoyin, has been sentenced to death by hanging for murder of Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s Degree student of the Obafemi Awolowo University.
Also sentenced to death by hanging alongside Adedoyin by the Osun State High Court in Osogbo are two other staff of the hotel, Adeniyi Aderogba and Kazeem Oyetunde.
In her judgement on Tuesday, the presiding judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, who is the Chief Judge of Osun State, said the prosecution probed its case beyond any reasonable doubt.
The court discharged and acquitted three staff of Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, Magdalene Chiefuna, Lawrence Oluwole and Adedeji Adesola, charged for murder, conspiracy, oath of secrecy, among others.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned judgement for the seventh defendant till tomorrow (Wednesday), giving as reasons, pleas by both the prosecution and defence counsels.
It would be recalled that Timothy Adegoke died in November, 2021 in Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he lodged while sitting for an Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) examination at Moro Campus of the Obafemi Awolowo University.
Earlier, there was a heavy security presence in court premises and along Okefia road leading to the court ahead of the judgement.
