Heavy flood on Saturday morning swept away an unidentified man at Oko-Oba in Agege area of Lagos State.
According to an eye witness, Ayomide Arinola, the victim’s colleagues reportedly informed residents of the area that the middle aged man was swept away by raging flood when he was searching for his missing cows.
Arinola said the victim’s colleagues alerted residents of the area when they could not locate the man, dead or alive, around 4.00pm.
She said: “Residents saw some men, who came to Oko-Oba from Abattoir, as they (residents) were busy searching for two occupants of a vehicle who were swept by flood at Oyatoki Street, Oko-Oba.
“Upon arrival at about 4.00pm, they joined in the search, only to inform us that their colleague, a male, was swept away while searching for some missing cows from the abattoir.
“They informed that some of their cows were swept by flood in the morning, and the man volunteered to search for them unfortunately, he was also swept away.
“They begged residents to notify them incase his body was found.”
Also, six occupants of a Lexus SUV car and another vehicle were swept away on Saturday morning aftermaths of a heavy downpour in Oko-Oba, Lagos.
Four of the flood victims escaped when the people in the community rescued two and two others jumped out of the car and swam out to safety.
Meanwhile, the other two occupants of the vehicle were swetp away and could not be found.
A resident, who pleaded annoymity, said the vehicle drivers refused t listen to warning not to drive into the flood.
According to him, search for the victims to rescue them could not achieve much.
