An Ondo State-based Anglican cleric, Venerable Olu Obanla, and his son, on Saturday were abducted by an armed gang.
The victims were reportedly ambushed by the gunmen and abducted while traveling along Ifon-Okeluse Road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Meanwhile, a source disclosed that the gunmen had reached out to demand N10 million ransom from the victims’ family.
The source, who would not want to be named, further disclosed that the family had pleaded with the gunmen to take N1 million but said they rejected the offer.
The source said: “Venerable Olu Obanla and his son were kidnapped yesterday on their way to Okeluse in Ondo State.
“The kidnappers have contacted the family and demanded for N10 million ransom but the family was only able to raise N1 million, which the kidnappers rejected.”
The Police Public Relations Office for the Ondo State Police Command, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, told journalists that a police team is already after the gunmen to arrest them and rescue the victims.
