Armed bandits have killed six soldiers at Tati village in Takum Local Government in Taraba State.
The soldiers were in the security team responding to a distress call by the residents of the village under heavy attacks of the bandits.
The military in an internal communication through a signal by the Nigerian Army 93 Battalion in Takum, said the Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel E.S. Okore, was still missing.
According to the signal, the the bandits outnumbered the troops in the attack, which happened around 10 a.m. on May 10.
The signal also said casualty figure of bandits could not be immediately verified.
The signal stated: “Troops killed two bandits at Ananum village while others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered 1 AK47 rifle, two AK47 magazines, rounds of 7.62 mm, one pistol, 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition one locally-made gun, charms, and the sum of N15,120, from the bandits after the encounter.
“But while returning from a reinforcement operation in Marraraba, soldiers were ambushed but carried out anti-ambush drills and fought out the ambush.”
