A 25-year old man, Ebenezer Adeshina, is in police net for allegedly drugging and raping a 16-year-old girl in the Ogun State.
The suspect was said to have taken a nude picture of the victim during the incident and later threatened to expose her on social media unless she paid N50,000 to him.
The spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who spoke with newsmen in Abeokuta, said the suspect met the victim in 2021 as a Facebook friend.
The police spokesman said: Adesina invited victim to to his house to collect N3,000 for the repair of the phone before he allegedly violated the girl.
He said: “On getting there, the suspect offered her a drink which she took, unknown to her that the drink has been laced with a sedative drug.
“Immediately she took the drink, she became unconscious and the suspect used the opportunity to have unlawful carnal knowledge of her against her wish.
“After having sex with her in the state of unconsciousness, the suspect took her nude pictures and started threatening to upload the pictures on social media if she didn’t pay him the sum of fifty thousand Naira.
“The DPO of Owode Egbado division, CSP Muhammad S. Baba, had detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and, he was eventually arrested by the police. He has confessed to the commission of the crime.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of Adeshina to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, for further investigation and possible prosecution.”
