Men of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 20-year old suspected armed robber, Aaron Uko.
A police team, the Dragon 26 & 29, on a routine stop and search duty on Saturday reportedly arrested the man on Warri-Sapele Highway.
A locally-made cut-to-size gun loaded with two live cartridges was found on him, where it was concealed in his under pant.
The suspect was allegedly arrested after the police team stopped a Volkswagen Jetta commercial vehicle marked PTN 242 TA in which he was traveling with some passengers from Sapele to Warri.
The Delta State Police Commissioner, Ari Muhammed Ali, told journalists that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect bought the gun in 2018 from a man nicknamed “OSE” for twenty-seven thousand naira (N27,000).
The police said: “The suspect, Aaron Uko, was arrested and taken into custody, the exhibit was recovered and investigation is ongoing.”
