Remains of the female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Deborah Samuel, killed last Thursday by his mates for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad, were laid to rest tears.
She was buried on Saturday in her village, Tunga Magajiya, Rijau Local Government Area of the state.
Pastor of the First Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Tunga Magajiya, Niger State, Emmanuel Maaaji, told journalists that family demanded she be buried today (Saturday) “because they are not happy with the way the government is handling the issue.”
The pastor disclosed that the late Deborah’s mother had been unconscious since she heard the news on Thursday.
According to Maaaji, the killing of Deborah had affected her mother’s health, which he said made her blood pressure to shoot up and the father very sad inconsolable.
He said: “The body of Deborah was brought in a chartered bus but the Sokoto State government has called and said that it is not right for the family to take the body in that manner without informing them
“The Sokoto State government told the family that Deborah’s body belongs to the government and not the family,” he said.
The pastor said though he could not recollect the name of the caller but he disclosed that the person claimed to be representing the government of Sokoto State.
