For sanctity of Ramadan, Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has ordered the immediate closure of all beer parlours and prostitution spots.
The state Hisbah commandant, Ibrahim Dahiru, was quoted by the Daily Post to have said the move was part of the corps’ efforts to stem social vices during the month of Ramadan.
Explaining that the Hisbah corps has conducted sensitisation for commercial sex workers and alcohol sellers, Dahiru said: “We have gone round to such areas across the state and warned the perpetrators of the offences to quit their illegitimate businesses during [this] the holy month of Ramadan or leave the state.”
The Hisbah commandant, however, declared that his men would embark on general patrol to arrest those whoever fails to obey the order.
