A refrigerator and air conditioner technician, Toheeb Akanji, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly stabbing a 42-year old man, Damilare Oladipupo, to death.
The 32-year old Toheeb aka T Cash, was said to have lured the deceased out of his hotel room before he allegedly stabbed him to death.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement disclosed that the suspect was arrested after the police operatives at Agbado divisional headquarters received ba distress call around 12.30 midnight from one Oluomo.
According to him, the police were informed victim also known as No Story came to the Blue Roof Hotel in Adiyan Gasline, in Ifo Local Government Area of the state, to celebrate with the hotel owner before the incident happened.
Oyeyemi said: “Upon the distress call, the DPO, Agbado division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene.
“On getting there, it was discovered that the deceased was lured out of the hotel and stabbed several times in the chest, hand and face.
“It was also discovered that he struggled with his assailant, which made him to seize the cardigan worn by the suspect, as well as the knife he used to stab him.
“The deceased was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, who was immediately informed, promptly directed that the suspect be hunted and brought to book within 24 hours.
“Upon the CP’s directive, the DPO and his men embarked on an intelligence-based investigation, and around 5pm on Saturday, December 25, 2021, the suspect was arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing the deceased, but blamed it on devil’s handiwork.
“He stated that he came to the hotel to find out who beat and injured one of his boys, but on getting there, the deceased accosted him and started fighting with him.
“It was then he brought out the knife he came with and used it to stab him.
“Now, the state police commissioner has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.”
