A man, Michael Adunola, on Tuesday was arraigned before an Osun State Magistrate in Ile-Ife for killing his wife and baby.
Adunola and his accomplice, Atinuke Olawoyin, arraigned in court with him, were accused of killing his wife, Esther, and 14-month old daughter, Glory.
The prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the the court that the accused person committed the offence on May 23, 2020, around 12 noon at Isale Agbara area of Ile-Ife.
He also told the court that the accused person conspired with his friend to murder his wife and baby.
According to him, the accused persons unlawfully killed Esther and Glory and cut off their heads and hands.
He said the offence contravenes Sections 242, 319(1), and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused persons’ pleas were not taken because of the nature of their offence
The presiding judge, Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji, ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send it to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution at the state Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
She also ordered that the accused persons be remanded at the correctional facility in Ilesa.
The Magistrate adjourned the case till July 28 for mention.
