Gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its fighting wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) have marked nine council areas of Anambra State for attacks.
Apparently reacting to killing of its four men enforcing the group’s sit-at-home order on Monday in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area by the soldiers, the gunmen said the security operatives should prepare for “action in Biafra Land.”
The gunmen on Tuesday sent out a message to the people of Ihiala, Aguata, Nnewi South, Awka North, Awka South, Idemili North, Idemili South, Orumba South, Orumba North and Anambra East Local Government Areas to expect to see them soon.
The message sent out the council areas read: “We are warning our dear Professor that it is time for action and not time to speak big grammar and talking.
“All the security men occupying BIAFRA LAND should get ready for action. Go and tell the ZOO President to release our Oga, Onyendu, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or face continuous war – FINAL WARNING.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Ikenga Tochukwu, told newsmen that the police bwas aware of the message.
He said the Command and other sistersecurity agencies are always on patrol to maintain law and order in the state.
He advised the residents to go about their normal life commercial activities, assuring them that nobody could harrass or intimidate them.
