Gunmen have attacked four villages in Zamfara State, killing 30 persons and setting ablaze many houses.
It was gathered that several armed men on motorcycles stormed Gobirawa, Rini, Gora, and Madoti Dankule villages in Bakura and Maradun Council Areas of the state and unleashed terror on the people.
News report monitored on Channels Television revealed that the bandits arrived the villages on several motorcycles and opened fire on residents.
Also, many houses were set ablaze by the gunmen.
Meanwhile, the Sole Administrator, Bakura council area, Aminu Suleiman, and the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Magarya, have visited the villages to assess casualties and level of destruction of property by the bandits.
Confirming that over 30 people had been shot dead during the invasion of the villages, Suleiman said: “17 were killed in Rini and about 10 others in Gora. There were two incidents actually. The first attack that led to the killings of about more than 20 people and the reprisal (by the Yan-Sakai – local vigilante) that led to the killing of about 10 people as well.”
The chairman called for more security personnel in the area so that farmers can go to their farms.
