Femi Adesina returns to Sun Newspapers as Executive Vice Chairman
Femi Adesina, a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has returned to the Sun Newspapers as Executive Vice Chairman.
Adesina, who left the media house as its Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief to work with Buhari for two terms of eight years, is expected to resume duty at the Sun Newspapers on September 1.
The company’s founder, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has approved Adesina’s new appointment.
Adesina in an interview he recently granted The Crest. said that when he expressed intention to leave The Sun Newspapers, Kalu advised him not to resign, offering him the opportunity to return if he didn’t enjoy his government role or even after serving for eight years.
He said: “I came from The Sun Newspapers. I was the MD/Editor-in-Chief (of the publishing company). And when I wanted to leave, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu said ‘Don’t resign. You may get to the government and you don’t like it. You can always come back. Or, you may get to the government and stay eight years; you can always come back. I am going to make you the Executive Vice Chairman of the company.’ Not only did he say it, he issued me the letter. Yes, I have the letter.”
