A Catholic educational institution, Godfrey Okoye University (GO-UNI), Enugu has warned the students and staff that exchange of pornographic materials is a taboo on campus.
Also placing a ban on fixing of fingernails and eyelashes by students in the institution, the management extended the ban on wearing of shorts by staff and students and also use of artificial materials as body adornment.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christian Anieke, who addressed the students and workers at the institution auditorium, warned that the management would not tolerate staff or students who wear tights and other materials that expose the sensitive parts of their bodies.
He maintained that “crazy fashion” only distracts other members of the university, saying: “Only black and brown hair would be allowed on campus. The management would give everyone one month to adjust to the new rules or be disciplined.
“So, henceforth, students will be expected to wear their faculty uniforms from Tuesday to Friday, This directive is necessary because of the abuse of the approved dress code which demands that students should wear cultural attires on Fridays.
“The lecturers should be proactive and must cover their lectures because the management would not take any excuse for disruption in the university’s academic programmes.
“We also warned final-year students against plagiarism. The university librarian has been directed to carry out plagiarism tests on all research works by the students and staff.
“So, students should report any staff of the institution, who frustrate speedy completion of their projects.”
