Bandits attack Katsina village, kill four, go on looting spree



Bandits have reportedly killed four and injured score of residents of Barawa village in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, according to a resident, Bashir Isa.

Isa disclosed that about 100 armed bandits on Sunday night stormed the community, and apart from killing the four people also went from house to house to loot valuable goods of the residents.

He further disclosed that the bandits were shooting sporadically to scare peolp away, saying: “They didn’t kidnap anyone but killed four people, including three men and an elderly woman. Several others were wounded by the bandits.

“After the bandits had despersed half of the people of the community, they conducted a house to house and shop to shop looting.

“They looted all the shops in the community and went away with goats and sheeps left behind by the traumatised residents.”

Also, another source, who preferred not to be named, disclosed that the residence of a popular business man in the community, Malam Bello Musa, was visited and was robbed N400,000.

He said: “We’ve buried the four people killed this morning but I’ll not be surprised if the number increases in the afternoon. A lot of people have been severely wounded by the bandits.”
