Armed men abduct BUK student, demand N100m ransom

Armed men have abducted a 300-Level female student of the Bayero University Kano, Sekina Bello.

The student was reportedly seized by the bandits armed with dangerous weapons on Tuesday at Janbulo and Rijiyar Zaki areas of the Kano metropolis

By Wednesday morning, the bandits was said to have reached out to the victim’s family to demand N100 million ransom before she could be released.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the police had started investigation into the matter.

Also, the university ‘s spokesman, Lamara Azare, in his reaction, said the BUK was not in session and therefore no report had reached the school of abduction of any student.

He told journalists that the university had not been on session since July and will resume on November 1.

According to him: “We are not on session. We have no student residing on campus at the moment, and we have not received any incident of abduction of any student.”
