An armed gang has abducted a Kwara State-based businessman, Sikiru Bosere, and his personal assistant identified as Philemon in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area.
The victims were about driving into their residence around 10.30pm on Sunday when the gunmen picked them up and whisked them away to an unknown destination, a source disclosed.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “The kidnappers had laid an ambush around his residence at Labour Camp, Jebba and attacked them while his boy was about to open the gate when they arrived.
“But when he saw them, the boy tried to escape but was seriously beaten. The kidnappers later whisked them into the bush through the second gate in the house.
“Nobody could get close to them because of the way they were shooting sporadically.”
The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday, however, said one of the victims had been rescued.
He said: “A case of kidnapping was received early this morning, one victim already rescued while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim and possibly arrest the kidnappers.”
