Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ada, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State have cried out against marginalization of the party members in the APC-led Gboyega Oyetola administartion.
Speaking at a meeting between the APC leaders in the state and Ada community on Saturday, Chief Kola Oyadeji, one of the party leaders in Ada, called the attention of the state governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, to the plight of the people of the area, particularly supporters of the APC.
Saying the people of Ada have always supported and demonstrated their loyalty to the APC and the governor, he lamented that nobody had been appointed into the Oyetola cabinet from the area.
He said: “We want to reorganize the party, so people will be able to follow Governor Oyetola in a proper way. They are not giving us what we are supposed to benefit as a party member.
“Governor Oyetola appointed some party members in other neighbouring towns but nobody was given the privileged here in Ada.
“We have great numbers of voters here in Ada compared with other neighbouring towns where the Governor is picking his appointees.”
The chairman of APC in Osun State, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, who was represented at the meeting by the party’s Osun Central senatorial leader, Hon. Adeoye Adelakun, assured the Ada APC leaders that their complaints would receive appropriate attention.
He said: “The reason why I am here is to listen and to hold a meeting with the leaders of our party here in Ada because they are also complaining that they are marginalised by our governor.
“We felt he should talk to everybody, attend to all complaints and give assurance to our people that we value your contribution to the growth of our party and smooth running of the government. I am assuring that your complaint will receive necessary action.”
On the Ondo State governorship election, he advised Nigerians to discountenance the rumour that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is mobilising party members to rig for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to win the poll.
Famodun explained that Oyetola being a member of the APC national caretaker committee identified a local government in Ondo state where they have a large number of Osun State indigenes and was canvassing for votes in favour of the APC flag bearer in the state.
He predicted that victory awaits the candidate of the APC in the forthcoming election.
According to him: “Governor Oyetola is not mobilising party members from Osun State to Ondo State to rig elections for Rotimi Akeredolu. What the governor is doing is that he identified a Local Government Area named Odigbo, where most residents in the place are Osun State indigenes, he went there to canvass votes for the candidate of the party.”
He maintained that the rumour that Governor Oyetola is mobilising people from his state to Ondo is not logical.
