Ajimobi buried amid tight security…Oyo govt prevents burial at his Agodi residence
The immediate past governor of Oyo State and national deputy chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi, was buried on Sunday amid tight security in his Oluyole residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Ajimobi, who died on Thursday at a Lagos hospital of COVID-19 complication was buried around 10.am.
According to the former chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, a special prayer will be offered for the deceased at his Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
Among prominent Islamic clerics in attendance were Kunle Saani, Muideen Bello, and the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Abubakri Abdulganiyu.
Meanwhile, the Ajimobi family had planned to bury the deceased at Agodi GRA residence but the Oyo State Government was against it.
A police team was deployed to the residence to prevent the burial from taking place there.
The state government said it did not approve burying late Ajimobi in the residence because of litigation over ownership.
