Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Osun State Sector Command on Saturday said two bodies of accident victims have been recovered from a river in Ifetedo, Ife-North Council Area.
Spokesperson of the Sector Command, Agnes Ogungbemi, in a statement on Saturday, the bodies were recovered during a search and rescue operation by local divers.
According to her, a Venza SUV marked BWR 909 SD with two occupants plunged into Etioni River along Ife-Ondo Highway on Wednesday evening.
Linking the crash to possible excessive speed and poor vision, she said: “Local divers were invited to search for the vehicle after which a towing truck was used to recover it from the river and the two occupants.
“The relatives of the victims were at the scene at the time and the bodies buried beside the river in line with the community tradition and the recovered vehicle handed over to the police.”
