Abducted victim’s body found in Kwara forest


Residents of Olla in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State have explained how they recovered corpse of Adegboyega Onijala, who was abducted last Saturday in a forest near the community.

The victim’s body was discovered in the forest during the search and rescue operation by the local hunters and vigilantes on Wednesday morning.

Narrating the condition in which the body was found, a family source, who preferred not to be named, disclosed that the victim lost much blood as a result of the injury he sustained from machete cuts found all over his body the in the forest.

It would be that the victim was reportedly abducted on Saturday by unknown gunmen that invaded Olla community.

The armed men reportedly laid an ambush for the victim, who is said to be related to the community head, on his way home from his farm around the community.

At the point of his abduction, he sustained serious injuries from machete cuts as he reportedly resisted to be kidnapped.

Hours after his abduction, undisclosed amount of money was demandedas ransom by the gunmen from the community for the release of the victim.

Part of the ransom was paid but the kidnappers still went ahead to kill the victim.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, said the state Police Commissioner, on Tuesday Assayomo, directed the anti-kidnapping and other tactical teams in conjunction with local hunters and vigilantes to launch a search and rescue operation for the victim and possible arrest of the masterminds.
