Six officers of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) escaped death by whiskers when a full load cement trailer lost control and ran into their patrol van on Ilesa-Osogbo highway in Osun State.
The lucky FRSC men were said to be a road duty when the trailer reportedly had a brake failure, veered off the road and rammed into their operational van parked by the road side.
However, one of the officers was reportedly wounded and taken to the FRSC Clinic in Ilesa for treatment.
The spokesperson of the Osun State Sector Command of FRSC, Florence Ogungbemi, in a statement, said the accident occurred around 1.00 pm.
She said: “On Saturday afternoon some FRSC men were saved from death when their Toyota Hilux patrol van with registration number AI586RS was rammed into by a Tino trailer laden with cement along the Ilesa-Osogbo road in Osun State.
“The driver of the white Tino trailer with number KSF614XU had lost control and rammed into the well parked FRSC patrol van after it experienced brake failure.
“No life was lost during the accident but one injured victim had been taken to the FRSC clinic in Ilesa for treatment. The driver of the trailer has been arrested and handed over to the operatives of the Nigeria Police who had come to the scene of the crash for investigation.”
