About twenty people were killed and three others injured by Monday lightning strikes in some parts of the eastern Indian state of West Bengal.
A disaster management official source revealed the deaths were from three different districts of the state.
The source said: “Nine persons were killed in Murshidabad, nine others in Hooghly and two more in Purba Medinipur district due to lightning strikes. Three others were also injured in lightning strikes in the Murshidabad district. The injured were admitted at a local hospital.”
Also, meteorological department officials said heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning lashed several districts in the state, including the capital city Kolkata
The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was said to have visited the affected areas and condoled with families of those, who lost their lives and approved monetary relief for the victims.
